Bryan Maddox

Executive Director

Bryan is Executive Director of AMA. He is also Research Director for Digital Assessment Futures at The Digital Education Futures Initiative (DEFI), Hughes Hall, University of Cambridge. He is Honorary Professor at the University of East Anglia, and was previously Professor of Educational Assessment at University of East Anglia, Visiting Professor (Professor II) at the Centre for Educational Measurement, University of Oslo, and Visiting Professor the University of British Columbia.  He has conducted assessment research on assessment in South and Central Asia, West Africa, Europe and the United States.

Nic Redfern

Finance Director

Nic has worked with Assessment MicroAnalytics since before its launch in October 2018. He advises businesses across the digital and technology sectors, providing advice and support on strategy and growth, and he is also the founder of a charity focused on inclusion for neurodiverse young people.  His focus is the adoption and alignment of strategy, technology and process to facilitate rapid scaling. As a qualified accountant, Nic has a focus on robust financial modelling and planning using an approach developed over many years working with high growth technology businesses, including: Virgin Money, the UK price comparison website Nerdwallet.com and The TaxAssist Group.

Dr. Tahmina Zebin

Ethical and Inclusive AI design

Dr Tahmina Zebin supports our research on Ethical and Inclusive AI and research on clinical and educational settings. Dr. Zebin is a Senior Lecturer in Computer Science at Brunel University.  She was previously a Lecturer in the School of Computing Sciences at the University of East Anglia and has led an On-device and Explainable AI Research Group.  She completed her PhD studies in 2017 from the University of Manchester. Her areas of expertise include Advanced Video and Signal Processing, Human Activity Recognition, multimodal algorithms, and the use of statistical machine learning and deep learning techniques.

Naomi Care

Inclusive Assessment

Naomi Care supports our work on inclusive assessment. She has a background in anthropology, psychology and education, with specialist expertise and extensive experience in inclusive assessment, disability, special educational needs, and chronic illness.

"My goal, in all the work I do, is to ensure that learners have the necessary tools to flourish.  To me, creating inclusive assessments is integral to that goal."

Liz Monahan

Figurative artist

Liz Monahan is a figurative artist who graduated from Norwich University of the Arts with an MA Fine Art distinction in 2017. She supports AMA work on fine-grained visualisation of facial expression and gesture.  Liz has won the Bishop’s Art Prize and was highly commended for the Hermione Hammond Drawing Prize.  Her work has been shown at the RefreshArt and ING Discerning Eye exhibitions.

“I find the human face an endlessly fascinating subject to contemplate. With the tiniest lift of an eyebrow, or slightest shift of the mouth a whole gamut of thought and feeling is expressed”.
